First Three Stretch Goals Announced!
over 1 year ago – Sun, Oct 16, 2022 at 04:51:43 AM

We wanted to have stretch goals that affected everybody and not just certain reward tiers so anyone that backs the physical game benefits from every stretch goal!

Linen Finish: If you play lots of card games and know what a linen finish is then you already know it's just the best. The cards have a grippy texture and look really high quality in the light. It will suit the style of this game really well and will be a big step up!

2 Player Competitive Mode: The Cat Deck is my preferred two player variant with this game as it adds an asymmetric element and drives home the fact that cats are jerks. That being said, I've had requests to add some kind of two-player mode to the main game. I have some early work on a version where players are each making a "day" and racing to balance it first. BUT there is still only one coffee token and managing the single token and having it in YOUR day, not your opponent's, will be a big part of it. If unlocked, I will playtest and develop this further and add it to the main game!

Cat Sticker: We will add a die-cut cat sticker to the game which you can put on your laptop, cat's litter box, whatever! We will offer an array of cat options, present them to backers and let you VOTE on your favourite cat sticker.

Want to see these unlocked faster? Consider tagging a friend and letting them know about the game.

Funded in One Hour! The Tale of an Ostrich Wearing a Tuxedo!
over 1 year ago – Sat, Oct 15, 2022 at 03:42:26 PM

Wow! We were funded right away, thank you everyone!!

Designer Jason "Anarchy" here and I just want to say what a privilege it is to work with Cassandra Calin on this game. Whenever I make a game, I like to try to be funny in different ways and making a game that plays to Cassie's unique art style has been a blast!

I've done some edgier games in the past and it was really nice to have the baseline be "cozy" with this one. That being said, once we have that expectation set, it really opens up a lot of possibilities to surprise players with something unexpected :)

Gameplay-wise, this game is for people that feel like a disaster sometimes. And in those times, I figured a low pressure solo game was the way to address that feeling. I wanted to make something kind of comforting and I think we've succeeded on that level!

I just want to end this first update by telling a story about my favourite card in the game:

I was sending Cassie some outlines for ideas for cards. The outline was something like "The card would be called CREATE SOMETHING and Cassie is carving a statue of an otter." I thought otters were funny and I thought a statue or an otter would be REALLY funny.

Anyway I got the batch of cards back and there was no otter, but this thing:

It was an ostrich wearing a tuxedo. And I think it sprained the humour muscle in my brain because I kind of snorted and did a weird laugh the first time I saw this. This ostrich was kind of magnificent in it's own way.

So I became a strong advocate of the ostrich and suggested it lead the charge on the variant cover:

It was a great balancing act because on one hand, the main red cover looks like a struggle but the variant cover makes it look like "Hey maybe you can do this" and all while featuring an absurd ostrich.

I hope you've enjoyed this insight into the creative process :)

From here, I plan to update once or twice a week during the campaign with the broad strokes of what's new and exciting!

Thank you all again for backing and I hope this game helps make at least a marginal improvement in your life balance!
